Tell the story of San Vito Romano through a photograph
This is a courtesy translation of the Italian rules.
1. Promoters and purpose
The contest is promoted by a group of people who, spontaneously and without forming an association, wish to help enhance and promote San Vito Romano through photography.
The initiative is amateur and non-profit, and aims to collect images that tell the story of the area: its places, landscapes, monuments, traditions and moments of everyday life.
2. Taking part
Participation is free and open to all.
Each participant may submit an unlimited number of photographs.
The following photographs are accepted:
- taken directly by the participant;
- belonging to the participant’s personal or family collection, including historical photographs;
- taken by other people, provided the participant holds the necessary rights or permissions for their publication, distribution and exhibition as part of the contest and of activities promoting the area.
Images taken with any device, including cameras and smartphones, are accepted.
Post-production and retouching are allowed, provided they do not distort the main subject of the photo or substantially alter its content, meaning or distinctive elements. By way of example, adjustments to brightness, contrast, colour, exposure and sharpness, cropping and the removal of small distracting elements are allowed. Changes that add, replace or substantially manipulate elements present in the scene, such that the photograph becomes an image no longer traceable to the situation originally captured, are not allowed.
Taking part implies acceptance of these rules.
3. Theme and characteristics of the photographs
The photographs must be taken within the territory of San Vito Romano and have the town and its territory as their subject or reference.
Photographs will not be accepted if they are:
- contrary to the law, to public decency or to the dignity of persons;
- containing material to which the participant does not hold the rights;
- in breach of the copyright, image rights or privacy of third parties;
- not consistent with the purpose of the contest.
The organisers reserve the right to exclude photographs that do not comply with these rules.
4. Copyright and liability
The participant declares that they are the author of the photograph or that they hold all the rights necessary for its publication and distribution.
The participant is responsible for the content of the photographs submitted and guarantees that their publication does not infringe the rights of third parties.
Where recognisable people appear, the participant declares that they have obtained, where necessary, the relevant permissions to photograph them and to publish the image.
Where minors appear in the photograph, the participant declares that they have obtained permission to distribute the image from the parents or from whoever holds parental responsibility.
Any dispute concerning copyright, image rights or privacy will be the sole responsibility of the participant who submitted the photograph.
5. Use of the photographs
By taking part in the contest, the copyright in the photograph remains with its owner; the participant grants the organisers, free of charge, a non-exclusive permission to use the image.
The photographs may be used, without any payment to the participant or to the author, for:
- the contest and the related voting;
- shows and exhibitions, including online;
- posters, brochures and other communication materials;
- cultural activities and initiatives to promote and enhance San Vito Romano.
The permission is granted without territorial limits and for the time necessary for the purposes listed above.
In particular, the photographs may be displayed online on the website sanvitoromanolovers.org for an indefinite period.
The photographs will not be passed on to third parties for commercial purposes nor used to sell the image without the specific permission of the rights holder.
The participant accepts that the photograph may be made publicly available as part of the activities promoting the contest and the area, without being able to claim payment, compensation or any other consideration for such uses.
6. Submitting the photographs
The photographs must be submitted by 30 November 2026, in the manner indicated by the organisers:
Dedicated form available online: www.sanvitoromanolovers.org/en/culturaturismo/contest-fotografico-il-sole-ridisegna-i-contorni/
For each participant, a first name, surname and email address must be given.
For each photograph, a title may be given and, if considered useful, the place where it was taken.
7. Voting and winner
From all the accepted photographs, the organisers will select 20 finalist photographs, which will be put to a final vote.
The 20 selected photographs will be presented to the members of the community through the social networks (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok), in the ways each platform makes available.
Participants’ names will not be shown during the voting. Once the voting has closed, the names of the people whose photographs reach the top three positions will be announced.
The winner will be determined by the sum of the number of likes each photograph receives across the different platforms: the photograph with the highest total will be declared the winner of the contest.
The likes that determine the winning photograph will be counted on 7 January 2027.
In the event of a tie, a new online vote will be held, until the winner is determined.
The organisers’ decision on the validity of the votes and on the application of these rules will be final.
8. Prizes and recognition
The contest does not offer cash prizes.
The winning photograph, together with any other photographs selected, will be showcased through publication, exhibition and promotion as part of the initiatives organised for the contest and for the enhancement of the area.
The winner may be awarded a certificate or a symbolic mention.
9. Privacy
The personal data provided by participants will be used exclusively to manage the contest and for communications connected with it, in compliance with the data protection legislation in force.
Taking part in the contest implies acceptance of the conditions on the publication and distribution of the photographs set out in these rules.
10. Acceptance
Submitting a photograph constitutes full acceptance of these rules and of the conditions on participation, publication, exhibition and use of the images.
