The story goes that Tobia was a brigand from the village who could hide by day beneath two great boulders leaning against each other, forming a sort of den, almost a small cave, between the hillside and the village.
At night, though, he would slip out in silence to steal whatever he could find: chickens, vegetables, fruit… anything he could get his hands on.
Legend has it that he was so extraordinarily strong that he could close the two huge boulders by himself and vanish from everyone’s sight.
These are the kind of old stories that smell of village life, of evenings spent telling tales in hushed voices, and of memories handed down from one generation to the next.
