Chiesa S.Sebastiano e S.Rocco

Where it is

The church of Saints Sebastian and Roch stands on Via Borgo Mario Theodoli, almost in the centre of the Borgo. Together with the adjacent building, later the Carmelite convent, it is part of the plan to reorganise the town commissioned by Cardinal Mario Theodoli around the middle of the 17th century (c. 1640-1660). It probably stands on a rural chapel that predates the opening of the borgo in 1649.

In 1679 Carlo Theodoli called the Carmelite Fathers of Rome’s Montesanto to San Vito. In 1872 the church and the convent passed to the municipality: the church was entrusted to the Sisters of the Most Precious Blood, while the convent became the town hall.

The interior is divided into three spaces and is rich in decorative elements typical of Baroque art. Admission is free.
