In Valmontone, about 40 km from Rome and just over half an hour by car from San Vito Romano, stands the Valmontone Outlet (also known as Fashion District Valmontone), one of the largest and most visited fashion outlets in central Italy. Opened in 2003 and expanded several times since, the centre brings together more than 180 stores of Italian and international clothing, footwear, accessories and homeware brands, with discounts ranging from 30% to 70% all year round.
The centre, surrounded by the greenery of the Roman countryside, is laid out like a small open-air village, with pedestrian streets, squares, fountains and dining areas. The outlet is easily reached by car via the A1 motorway (Valmontone exit) and has ample free parking.
A shopping destination for residents and tourists from the Castelli Romani and the Monti Prenestini area, the outlet is open seven days a week, with longer hours at weekends: it is worth checking them on the official website before setting off, especially on public holidays.

What visitors think
Judging by the reviews left online by people who have been there, impressions are positive overall but not unanimous. The most appreciated aspects are the wide variety of shops, for all ages and all budgets, the pleasure of shopping while strolling outdoors, the many places to eat and the spaces designed for children: many recommend it to families, partly because the MagicLand amusement park is close by.
The most frequent criticisms concern parking and traffic: at weekends, on public holidays and during the sales the outlet gets very crowded, finding a space can take time and queues form on the way out. Opinions on prices are divided: some report excellent bargains, while others find the discounts less attractive than expected or note that part of the stock comes from past collections, and a few consider the on-site cafés expensive.
The most common advice is therefore to go on a weekday, or to arrive early in the morning, and to compare prices before buying. Setting off from San Vito Romano, the short distance makes it easy to pick the quietest time.
The opinions reported here summarise reviews posted by visitors on Tripadvisor, many of them from a few years ago: they do not represent this site’s own judgement.
