From October 23 to 25, 2026, Cave hosts the 92nd edition of the Chestnut and Local Products Festival, a long-standing event celebrating the town’s chestnut-growing tradition and its surrounding woods. The alleys of the historic center fill with roasted chestnuts, local specialties and traditional dishes such as “gnocchetti a sassetto” and the “serpetta” sweet.
It starts on Friday 23 at 5:00 PM in Piazza Nassiriya with the opening ceremony and the inaugural conference “Castanicoltura moderna: innovare la tradizione, creare opportunità”; food stalls and wine cellars open at 7:00 PM, and from 9:00 PM there is live music by Lela and The Flames (Piazza Nassiriya) and Baracche e Burattini (Piazza Garibaldi). On Saturday 24 stalls and cellars open at 12:00 PM, at 6:00 PM there is the conference “Dal prodotto locale al grande evento: Cave e i Monti Prenestini nella rete turistica del Lazio” (From local product to major event: Cave and the Monti Prenestini in Lazio’s tourism network) in Piazza Nassiriya, and from 9:00 PM concerts by Alla Riversa (Piazza Garibaldi) and Malagrazia (Piazza Nassiriya), with roaming music by Incursioni Popolari.
Sunday 25 begins at 9:00 AM with the 28th Bici Castagnata and the 24th Memorial Enzo Moroni, followed at 9:15 AM by the 5th Corrincastagna run; stalls and cellars are open from 12:00 PM until the evening. At 4:00 PM the exhibition “Geografie Umane” closes at the Lorenzo Ferri Museum, at 5:30 PM the competition prizes are awarded in Piazza Nassiriya, and from 6:30 PM there is music by Erresei (Piazza Nassiriya), Last Bottle (Piazza Garibaldi) and Saltallara (roaming).
The program also includes the “Passeggiata tra i castagni” (walk among the chestnut trees), on Saturday at 2:30 PM and Sunday at 10:00 AM, with information and booking by WhatsApp only on +39 348 301 5808. The free shuttle leaves from Via Madonna del Campo (church side), with stops in Piazza Santa Croce and Piazza Plebiscito: on Saturday from 7:00 PM to midnight, on Sunday from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.
